Im back! Plus my thoughts on Cowboys 2013 draft

Hey guys its been a long time since i last posted on here and im sorry about that. from now on I plan on writing new content at least once a week sometimes more.So lets get to it. the first thing i want to talk about today is the cowboys draft class which has been quite controversial to say the least. So lets run down the picks.

Center Travis Fredrick rd 1 pick 31

I'll be honest, i hated this pick on draft night. in my mind he was a guy i had never heard of and even though i liked the trade down move i wanted a safety like cyprian or trade out of the first and pick up a bunch of picks like the pats did. So i was mad they picked a center. Not because i didnt think they needed one because i think we can all agree that Costa is terrible, but because i dont have 1st round value on the center position. All that said, since the draft ive loved the pick, not necessarily the spot he was picked but i love the guy thayt was picked. From everything i've read he's incredibly smart and strong and should instantly  improve the interior of the offensive line which was a priority for me in this offseason. I give the cowboys a B for this pick. He fills a big need and will be a starter from day one but they could have had him in the 2nd round  so that hurts the grade.

TE Gavin Escobar Rd 2 pick 15

I was really upset after this pick. I was completely confused by the reasoning to take a Tight End in the second round when you already have jason witten and james hanna is progressing well. After reading a little more on him im excited to have a sure handed 6'6" big man in the red zone for tony to throw to, and also someone who can take over for witten when hes gone. I give this pick a B+ they could have done better, but it was a solid pick.

WR Terrence Williams rd 3 pick 10

This was the pick of the draft in my opinion. Williams was a second round talent that lasted till the third because of runs on other positions. i think he will come in and get the third reciever job right away and may be the starting reciever opposite dez in a couple years. A+ for this pick

S J. J. Wilcox rd 3 pick 16

I thought this was another solid pick by the boys. they needed to add someone who could compete for a starting job and out of the guys left wilcox had the highest upside despite having only one year at safety. grade B

CB B.W. Webb rd 4 pick 18

I didn't know what to think of this pick at first but I do like the fact that he was a lockdown corner at William and Mary and he will push scandrick to be better. The team needed a fourth corner so this was a good pickup. I give them a B for this pick. Solid. But nothing special

RB John Randle rd 5 pick 18

I loved this pick because it gives the cowboys someone who can step in and play like Murray if he ever goes down and that was definitely a need going into this draft. A+ for this pick

LB Davonte Halloman rd 6 pick 18

I didn't know much about this guy but he should be a special teams contributer and will also compete for the strong side linebacker position and competition is always good. Give the cowboys a B for this one

All in all I thought this was a really good draft class. The cowboys picked up a few guys who will play significant snaps this year and also guys who could be starters down the road. I'd give them an overall grade of B+. They got a lot of quality guys but didn't quite hit a home run with it even though I like the players they got. Warford in rd 2 would have made this an A+ draft for me. Thanks for reading and ill have another post up soon.
